Mille Lacs small boat fishing for northerns?

Postby Questor » Sun May 22, 2011 10:00 pm

Can you tell me whether northern like can be caught in Mille Lacs from a small boat near shore? I'm not asking for spots, but if you can direct me to a quadrant of the lake and a general type of cover or structure, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

HI Q
Stick to the south west and west side, focusing around bays large and small. Speed trolling vibrating baits like rattle traps works well.
You can move from launch to launch, all the way from cove bay up to Terry's to avoid traveling across "big" water. Be careful about leaving your truck at the res launches.

Thank you! That narrows it down considerably. I'll watch for a west wind and head on over there!
