Larry.... Alumilite questions

Postby MuskyRuss » Tue Apr 26, 2011 1:47 pm

Larry or anyone else, I just finished pouring my first Alumilite molded swim bait and it turned out pretty sweet. I do have a couple questions....Whats the best way to anchor eyescrews in the Alumilite product. If i dip the eyescrew in the Alumilite and screw it in the bait will this anchor the eye screw in the bait by bonding with the already harden Alumilite? Also...If i drill a cpl holes in the bait to pour lead in to weigh the bait..will a small about of alumilite, bond with the already harden bait to fill these holes. What are your recommendations? thanks in advance....Russ

My first suggestion would be to use brass wire in the .045 range and make a thru the lure hook hanger. It's actually easier in the long run than messing with screw eyes, plus is more easily tuned.
Otherwise, you can use any glue you wish, that's worked for you in the past and treat the super plastic just like wood.
best,
