If we ever get rid this D*** ice I'm going to give them a shot for pike.

If you haven't fished for pike in shallow water with a topwater bait, you really ought to try it. The strikes are sensational. Huge fun! Generally I prefer a fly rod for this because of the stealth factor, but if you can present a heavier bait without making too big a splash, it will work fine.

Same pattern in the fall, like around mid-September to mid-October in central Minnesota.
