Quick strike rigs

Postby Jack7b » Fri Mar 18, 2011 2:18 pm

Hey Larry,
I catch a lot of pike through the ice on quick strike rigs(2 trebles) and try to release as many as possible, but sometimes one or both hooks are totally down the gullet and almost impossible to get out. I was wondering if just cutting the leader and leaving the hook in the fish would be good idea for survival or would it cause problems?

Studies have show gut hooked fish usually die even with the leader cut...the hooks simply do not disolve. best to keep those for the frying pan.
