Time of year is critical. For example, if you want to be there when the big pike are in shallow water, you'll need good info on that. Also, the weather at any time of year can truly ruin your trip unless you allow enough time, but especially during months other than June, July, and August. Truly waterproof clothing is a must. Snow and dangerously bad flying weather in August is not unusual in some locations. Ask about bugs, and buy a good bug suit and plenty of repellent if they tell you the bugs are abundant.
