worm harnesses

Postby vitkathybott » Mon Feb 14, 2011 10:26 am

LARRY, I AM A TOTALLY DISABLED LAKE ERIE FISHERMAN. SINCE MY DISABILITY I ONLY GET TO GO OUT FISHING WHEN A FRIEND COMES AND PICKS ME UP AT MY HOUSE TO GO WALLEYE FISHING OR TROUT AND SALMON FISHING DEPENDING ON THE SEASON AND TIME OF YEAR. WELL, MY DEPRESSION GETS TO ME AFTER BEING AN ACTIVE OUTDOOR TYPE ALL OF MY LIFE. I THOUHT OF MAKING FISHING LURES AS A NEWMONEYMAKING HOBBY. I HAVE A FEW OF YOUR CDS BUT WHAT I'D REALLY LIKE TO LEARN IS WORM HARNESSES WITH SPINNERS AND HOOKS MADE OF EITHER WIRE OR HEAVIER LINE. DO YOU HAVE VIDEOS ON THIS? IS THERE ANYWHERE THEY HAVE CLASSES FOR LUREMAKING? I LIVE 30MI. SW OF BUFFALO, NY, IN A LITTLE TOWN CALLED SILVER CREEK. WE ARE 10MI. EAST OF DUNKIRK, NY, HERE THERE HAS BEEN PROFESSIONAL BASS AND WALLEYE TOURNAMENTS. YOUR HELP IN THIS MATTER WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I REALLY WANNA LEARN THIS.

THANKS,
VITO B, DEPRESSED SHERMAN

Vito, sorry to hear this man. I feel your pain; I can only imagine what it is like.

Until Larry gets back on line (he is probably off filming in the southern latitudes right now in some remote location), I offer a few suggestions.

Larry's site, and Alumalite in general, is Excellent for soft plastics and hard baits. They really don't specialize in Walleye Worm Harness styles of lures. Still, I know that Larry can and will help when he is back on line.

Next, with that in mind, I offer the sources below for parts that you will need.

I also offer the following link that you can find a knot tying video for. Seth Burrell of the Pacific Northwest has these videos on his web site for public viewing. Listen until you come to the one on the egg loop knot that we use for Steelhead and Salmon. This is the best knot out there for the back hook, and even the front hook of the walleye harness lures.

Last, while I have not viewed them, when I went to YouTube and typed in Worm harness, I got the following Link that gives lots and lots of advice on the topic.

I hope that this is at least a poor substitute until Larry can get back.

Steve
