Finishing for lures

Postby deadlifter » Tue Sep 28, 2010 11:18 pm

Larry,

What was the clear fininsh that you used (brushed on) on for "Workshop DVD," when finishing your lead jig. I'm not sure what's the best clear finish for my lures, such as, jigs, or hard body lures made with alumilite. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, any progress on the whopper plopper?

Thanks,

Pat

HI P
I used clear urethane for that application. Envirotex, Flex Coat, and other epoxies are good and can be applied in a single fairly thick coat as long as the lure is turning while it sets. clear urethane is a little trickier because it sets up so suddenly and must be applied with a thinner coat.
The whopper ploppers have been in stores for a couple of weeks and I've already heard of at least a dozen muskies caught on them!
best,
L
