I catch more fish on an F7 floating original gold Rapala than on anything else. That and a simple jig. Can't say I've been fishing for particularly "big" fish in CT however.

kastmaster or flashabou jig ...

sorry to go off topic but - i gave one of my buddies one of my flashabou jigs and he returned the favor with a 10" sluggo eel I plan on using in a kayak tourney on July 3rd - looking forward to using it in a saltwater rig - he gave it to me rigged with a 2oz jig head and 5/0 hook with a 30#steel leader to the rear hook - any other sluggo tips?

Megadiver/rabbitstrip diver. All the different ways I can fish this type of lure with floating, sink tip, or full sinking line just makes it very versitile for me. But...I did catch my biggest bass on a large Jitterbug and have good luck with that type of lure in general too thus making it one of my favorites.

river smallmouth guy here so I'd vote for a black neon tube. It's a 4 season bait and black neon works in all water clarity conditions.

Truthfully, I only use a hand full of baits anyway; tubes, deadsticked flukes/senkos, baby torpedos and spinnerbaits.

For muskies I'd take a spinnerbait.

For walleyes I'd choose a white grub on a jig

Thank God I don't have to choose one bait though!!!

Black neon is nothing more than black with red flake.

Here's the link to Janns.
I love Janns. Their plastic is good quality stuff at reasonable prices. They also offer some great finesse skirts if you like JNP for smallies

I recently started using the 2.5" tube and have had great success with it. I use the greenpumpkin in 2.5", but be forewarned it's more like a smoke watermelon color with black flake...the smallies don't care though. Colors catch fishermen, not fish

The waters i fish are generally 3'-5' deep so a 1/8oz tube jig with a thin wire Mustad BLN 2/0 hook is all I need, but I'll use a 1/4oz if the water is up or I want the tube to sit still along a current seam.

Other tube manufacturers I like are Case Plastics, MicroMunch Tackle and Yum, but a tube is a tube so i always hit clearance bins and get what I need that way. Pick the brands you prefer. I think Zoom tubes are too thinly walled in the head. That's just opinion though

I would use a 5 inch Yamasenko, in watermelon gold, on a 5/0 Moaner Stroker hook. I LOVE this combo. The Moaner Hook gets you the penetrating power needed for large mouth bass, small mouth, and even pike. The senko catches fish, period.

You can find Moaner Hooks at www.moanerhooks.com. I am NOT affiliated with them, just love the product, and the PRICE!
you can find senkos pretty much anywhere.
