Larry,
I live near the wisconsin river and was wondering what a some good baits for the muskies in the river. And is there any certain way you should fish from shore.

Hi EH,
I like jerk baits and topwater for most of my river fishing, although cranks come into play when fall approaches.
My favorites are the small reef hawg, giant jackpot, eddy bait and any of the "mudpuppy" type rear prop surface lures.
Best single bit of advice I can give is to cast slightly upstream so you're not dragging your lure upstream against the current.
Shore fishing is going to relegate you to washout holes and the eddies and shelves adjacent to them. In some rivers it's all there is to fish anyway, but in most you'd be better off if you were more mobile.
good luck,
L
