La Zona trip

Postby Bob Daly » Thu Apr 26, 2007 2:04 am

Larry: Just returned from fishing La Zona April 16-19. Thanks for all the tips. My boat caught 7 dorados over 40lbs with the largest at 45lbs. We lost count on the +30lbs. Hector wanted me to write to you and say "hi" and ask when you are going back? :)
Good fishing, Bob Daly

excellent! I am soo looking forward to going to La Zona as well. How was the weather in April? What tackle did you use? WHat did they serve at the lodge? Thanks!

La Zona

Robert: The weather was very nice in April with temps in high 70s. The choice of tackle depends on the water levels. When the water was low our best lures were the giant shap raps in firetiger. When the water came up, the cd18 rapalas in firetiger were great. Also, the jigs the guides make up work very well. Take along lots of 6-7 in Storm shad lures. They however last for 1 dorado bite, but then you can use the jig head. I am again heading back in April. On all lures, it is extremely important to change all hooks and split rings. Also bring up plenty of wire leaders.
The food is fabulous. Comparable to finest steakhouse here in Chicago.
