Hi Larry, enjoyed your dorado show immensely. I'm taking a trip to the Parana river in Brazil near Campo Grande and this will be my first shot at dorado. My question is do you think large buzzbaits or other wire type lures would work well for these type fish?

Dave: I am heading Friday 13th for La Zona for dorados. I made buzz baits consisting 135lbs wire and 5-6 wooden balls and counter rotating buzz blades. Believe this is similar to what Larry used at La Zona. 8)

Good luck and good fishing, Bob Daly

Hi D,
They'd sure bite 'em if the water is clear enough, but whether you can hook and hold them with the little crappy hooks found on most bass baits is another issue!
The Parana is a huge river and is most likely going to be too dirty for great topwater action so you're probably going to need crankbaits, which you'll troll and cast.
If you're fishing a clearer tributary, weedless spoons are a good option.
The locals like using a live bait called a Morena (clown knife), which you rig with wire and one or two hooks.
Have fun!
best,
L
