Michigan Changes Pike Rules And Regs.

Postby young_gun » Tue Apr 14, 2009 7:50 am

For those of you who fish for the mighty northerns in michigan there have been significant changes made to various aspects of the limits. The new limit is 5 per day, 10 per possesion. There is no min. size limit however only 2 of the five can be 24 inches or bigger, but you cannot keep anything over 36 inches. I believe this will eliminate the over population of 20 to 23 inch pike and allow for Michigan's Lakes, Streams, and rivers to produce more all around trouphy pike.

where did you get your info? the current 2009 fisheries booklet says a 2 pike limit per day of 24" and the website says nothing of the changes your talking about. They have a proposed new pike management strategy (31 pages long which ive read) but none of the regulations that your talking about are there.

The Michigan DNR's new plans are called the DRAFT Pike and DRAFT Muskellunge plans, However, i don't believe these are officially rules yet as they are still looking for input from anglers all over our great state of Michigan, be sure to give your input!
