Hi O
You can never go wrong with a jig/minnow combo fished under a slip float. Mess with head/body color and depth of float.
Sometimes, depending on cover etc. several rods set at different depths slow trolled with a stop and go, stop and go is a great way to find them.

I've also had success on two different bodies of water getting them to hit a Lucky Craft 65 Pointer SP in MS America Shad color.

It's a 65 mm suspending jerkbait. In both cases I was only fishing 4-5 feet of wather though.

One of these days I'm going to Carolina rig a 2 inch floating Rapala and see if I can get them deep.

By they way, they'll hit Rat-l-traps too. I caught this one this afternoon in a pond casting toward some surface activity.
