deep water muskie

Postby hans79 » Sat Mar 14, 2009 4:14 pm

dear larry. i have been playing around with the method of casting to open water muskies and have been producing some fish. i live in south eastern wisconsin and fish lakes with heavy pressure with most of it shallow. i have used this method up in the hayward area and have seen some hawgs. have you ever done this and is there any help you can give me to help me produce more fish? Hi Matt
Lots of the time muskies are suspended, usually at the depth of the adjacent shelf. I know of guys who've been holding their boats on the primary break and casting to "open" water since the early 70's, and it can be very effective.
Another alternative of course in trolling.
Most commom mistake is fishing with lures that run too deep.
best,
