sonar & line

Postby shadisfied » Fri Feb 27, 2009 7:58 pm

Larry,
I'm still using black & white Lowrance sonar. Is there distinct advantages to going color? Also, I fish mostly for big Stripers & Musky......what's your opinion on mono vs braid? I troll & cast artificial for Musky.......and mostly troll live bait for Stripers. I really enjoyed your recent show on lure-making!

Hi S
color's mighty nice for separating targets.
I use braid for most casting and trolling of heavy lures. Mono when abrasion is an issue and stretch is not.
best,

Thanks Larry......I've had some successful striper fisherman (guides) tell me that with Stripers being the "wary" fish they are.....that they can "see" braid compared to mono. Do you see any truth to that? I certainly prefer braided line and I'm tired of respooling reels between Musky & Striper fishing. What braid do you prefer? I've been using the Magibraid from BassProShops.......and the Ripcord from Cabelas. I'm happy with both.....but I hear a lot of raves for the Power Pro braid also. Any opinion on this?? Thanks for your time & responses!
