ice out on river

Postby Monstah » Fri Feb 27, 2009 5:03 pm

Larry,

It's been warm enough here in the Northeast for considerable open water to have formed on our local rivers. I'm gonna put the canoe in a smallish river nearby, and am wondering where I'm most likely to find bass. Deep channels? Finding warmth in shallower areas (assuming sun is shining)?

Given your history in MN I figure you've been in this situation once or twice. Any insights are appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi M
Check slow eddies adjacent to deepest pools. Oftne directly above dam and directly below. Live bait likely best bet.
Any hotwater discharge will be full of fish.
good luck
