Larry, where do you think you'll find yourself this year for spring muskies...?

Not too sure. Lots depends on weather trends. Got lots of days to catch them before freeze up!!
How about you?

I started my own guiding service last year, so I'll be on the water a lot more this year(combat fishing charters)
I'll be sure to send you some reports on the big lakes if you're interested...

Starting a guide service is a dream of mine as well, do either of you have any tips on how to get started ? Or maybe the best approach to start with , like start slow with just weekends or maybe just go all out ? I would really appreciate any input as I am looking to start guiding in the next 5 years

Thanks, J

The first thing would be to learn the water you want to guide on the best you possibly can...maps, tips from others, magazines, books, other guides especially...learn everything you can about the fish you wanna guide for and everything about them on the water you're guiding...I spent the last 2 years learning the lakes I guide, and I'm still learning...but the biggest thing I think is confidence...be confident about your abilities and knowledge of the fish and water...but be confident before you start offering trips...even if you have the slightest doubt, wait...once you're there, put your name out there, and try to spread the word about yourself...and eventually, maybe even get sponsors to help each other...

Where are you wanting to guide at?

Well I live in southern Minnesota and love to fish for muskies but the only lakes close are fox near fairmont and French in fairibault, but I know a guy who says they need some musky guides on Mille lacs? I guess I have not really figured out the location, but am willing to put in the work to learn any lake. If you have any openings this summer I would love to go up and maybe learn a few tips tricks or life lessons from you.

Thanks, J
