early season river muskies..

Larry, what are your recommendations for catching river muskies on opening weekend? The way winter's been hanging on, I don't think the water here in the St. Louis River will even reach 60 degrees... What do you recommend for catching them in this cold water river system?

I would say your best odds are either near where they will spawn or near where the walleyes and suckers are currently spawning. If temps are falling due to nasty weather it will be very tough to target muskies. Odds of catching one while targeting walleyes with four to six inch lure might be higher under those conditions!
If temps are warming during the day, stop and go suspending stuff of any variety, small and midsize bucktails or even topwater are good options.
