Gar Fishing in small rivers

I have been to sugar creek many times camping and I see tons of gar but i just cant catch them any suggestions on what bait to use

The only gar I've caught are by accident so I'd suggest you check the gar posts and ask one of the guys who are real gar experts. I'm sure they could give you some suggestions.

hey john, i knw this is going to sound completely crazy, but we tend to take nylon pantyhose and fill them with minnows. we never use hooks because the tangled mess of teeth in the gar pikes mouth get traped in the nylon.
