Winter Largemouth Bass fishing in Florida.

Postby TwentyFourr » Sun Mar 09, 2008 9:21 am

Hi Larry, first of I'd like to say, you are a true hero in my book , and you inspired me to fish like I do today.

Ok , the waters around here are still a bit cold, but suitable for LM bass fishing.

Every now and then i hook into a 2-3 Ibs. Bass, but nothing ever big during the winter, most the times just small ones in little creeks and ponds etc.

I was just wondering if you could possibly supply me with a few winter largemouth bass techniques. Like for ex. water depth, clearness , lure selection.

Thanks, P.S. I Love watching your shows. :) and I bought your DVDs lol :p

TwentyFour- I cant tell you much about the river type fishing you have up there, it sure is beautiful in your area. Here I have luck in general with 10 worms, senko's, rattletraps, super spooks and jigs. Try this site, they're a bunch of guys very knowledgeable in bassin' your area: www.floridariverfishing.com. Also try www.georgiariverfishing.com. Lots of friendly folks who catch huge bass in your area. Also floridabassforum.com.
Bionic- We're very close. Ive been trying to hit Lake Manatee for both bass and hopefully sunshine bass. I fish Myakka State Park too. All from a kayak. The Braden and Manatee Rivers for Snook sounds good too! We'll have to get together for a beer so I can here about you trip(s) to Suriname in person.

hi tf
In winter you want to fish stable places like spring holes.
Clearer water is always best when it's cold and live bait is almost always the best choice.
stable weather and inclining temps almost always mean more active fish. falling water temps can really bean them out.
best,
L
