extreme heat muskies...

Larry, when the weather gets really hot, like the mid 90's, what is your preferred strategy for muskies? Particularly on stained river systems? Visibility is obviously low, so do u still want to go deep or get in the slop and try to rip them out or something else maybe???

I would need more details in regards to the specifics of the particular river environment. THe air temp is not important, but the water temp is. If there are cooler tribs, there will be muskies there. Time of day may also be important. You will find fish more active during both peaks and valleys in the temp profile. Check the usgs river website and see if your river is on it.
Also whether water is rising or falling makes a diff, how deep the main basins are in the holes, etc.
In general I would tell you to use fast, non mechanical wide zig zag lures retrieved at a radical downstream angle and make multiple casts the the best spots, plus fish the early morning and evenings.
best,
L
