musky opener

Postby Gaebler20 » Mon May 13, 2013 4:46 pm

Larry, with musky opener coming up next weekend, and im sure with the water being so cold they havent spawned yet, is there a particular strategy you would use with the water being cold still? And does stained water affect your approach?

Depends a lot on how hot it is getting and how fast. also size/depth of lake. otherwise, I'd hope I will be looking shallow for sight fishing opps with smaller stuff.

Will be fishing stained river with moderate current flow. Slack water runs down to 9' . main channel is 25-30' . But i expect main channel tp have lots of traffic.

Fish should be looking for dinner in the form of what's about to spawn, as in suckers. Mouths of feeders, etc. where sucker spawn is most likely would be a good place to start.
good luck
