Musky night fishing and lighting

Postby cyberfish » Thu Mar 07, 2013 9:26 pm

Larry, I fish almost exclusively alone, and a fair amount of time is at night. To make the fight and especially the netting process safer and more effective, I've thought about mounting 3 each 80 degree (total of 240 degrees) 1800 lumen LED lights on a pedestal, and then have a remote control to turn them on when I hook a fish.

Do you think if I do this, I lose any ability to catch more fish in the vicinity once these lights are turned on? Any other comments, positive or negative, on this idea?

My buddy has his boat lit up like a Christmas tree. I mean lights everywhere at night and he religiously chases Muskie. Zero, absolutely zero issues with catching fish when boat is lit up. They could care less where we fish and water is crystal clear. Music, trolling motor, stomping around and lights at night have not affected the catching of Muskie. It seems if they want I eat nothing will get in the way....

For practice how about fishing during day with our eyes shut?
I have a feeling a person's odds would increase...

I dream about fish at night..especially muskies...usually foul hooking the net, more often, hoards of muskies busting shad in a local 1/4 acre duck pond and me not able to get a functional rod and reel together in time...does that count as practice?
I know i guy that fishes at night for musky all the time and he don't worry about his lights...usually does good...especially in summer when the jet skiers are out
