Wisconsin bass fishing

Postby jethier » Mon Feb 04, 2008 11:03 am

Hello Larry,
I grew up in MN. and now live in WI. in the summer and Arkansas in the winter. I recently took up fly fishing and love the challenge.
Do you guide near your home in St. Croix falls?
I would like to find some good bass lakes and or rivers to fish for bass.

hi J,
here in Mn and Wisconsin within a hundred mile or so radius of the twin cities there is so much good bass fishing you couldn't cover it all in a lifetime!

Pick any lake (suggest clear water, minimum of other people-wading or float tube works well), using topwater bass flies 2-3" long, fish the edges and tops of weed and pad mats. areas with deepest water under overhead cover are usually best. As are AM and Eve.
Crow wing, big fork, little fork, rum, mississippi, st criox, cannon, root, all have smallmouth. poppers and flashabou streamers. size 1/0-4.
good luck!
best,
Larry Dahlberg
