Leader for Peacocks

Postby Dan Hanon » Sun Oct 07, 2012 3:21 pm

Larry,

In the new peacock bass photos, it looks like the Wide Glide was tied to a leader. Do you ever use leaders for them? If so, please elaborate on what types of lures, material and strength.

Thanks,

Dan

I always use leaders for peacock bass. 60# hard mono up to 130# depending on the size of the lure and how heavy the cover is that they are in or have access to!
On a wide glide I use an open loop knot. On prop baits I use a leader slightly longer than the lure to prevent line from getting twisted in the prop.

Thanks Larry! I'm going down in January, somewhere in the Negro basin. I'll probably tie with an FG, but I know you sometime use a Bimini with a double nail knot. I need to practice these leader connections....
