100lb mono knot?

Postby ebone » Tue Aug 21, 2012 5:07 pm

Larry-
I've been using 100lb leaders Muskie fishing. I have yet to have a knot fail but my confidence in it is a bit shaky. What knot do you like for 100lb mono?

I use a "three shouldered nail knot loop", also known as a uni-knot with three turns. I've used it for years on mono as heavy as 600 pounds and as light as 1 pound trout tippets and it's totally reliable. (Perhaps more reliable than 100 mono for a musky leader.)
On my line tester it consistently tests out as the strongest knot for any direct line tie.
best,
L
