North American Pike Waters

What are the top waters in North America for big pike over 20 lbs? Looking for a place to go with my son where we have a good chance at 40-45" pike. I don't need amenities, just the basics.

Thanks!

Dan

Your best bet is gonna be Canadian shield waters. Namely, the 2 best for sure is Lake Of The Woods and most likely Rainly Lake. Lake of the woods is packed full of trophies of all species. It's a never ending supply of monsters. Rainy has lots and lots of trophy walleyes and pike. Where they are all depends on the time of year you go.

Check out Walloston Lake Lodge in Canada. All they do is catch monsters...

I've heard about Wollaston from t.v. shows, never been there. I remember in the 1980's when Reindeer Lake was often featured on t.v., not sure how good the fishery is now, but it's also a huge lake. I know Great Slave and others in the NW Territories and Alaska can offer big pike. I'd like to catch some on fly, too.

Nueltin is a great lake to fly-fish for trophy pike - the season is short and they are VERY shallow, sight fishing for 40"+ pike is hard to beat. - You can sight cast to big Lakers as well if you go middle to end of June (which is actually ice out!)
