Line for New Tranx PG?

I was pretty pumped to come home and find out that my Tranx PG had arrived. Any thoughts on using the 80# or 100# old p.p. vs. the 80# super slick 8? Ideal line color for clear waters? Thanks in advance!

I'd go with 100# power pro. You're the first person I know of that's received one. If you don't mind my asking, where do you live and where did you get it!

I ordered it from Rollie and Hellens at the Milwaukee Musky Show. I live in Naperville, IL which is just west of Chicago. Thanks for the response! I am a huge fan of the show.

Also received my new Tranx PG yesterday. Looking forward to putting it to the test for monster La Zona golden dorado next month then Papua New Guinea Bass towards end of July! Thanks Larry for the recommendations you gave me at the Chicago Musky Show!!

Guys, let me know what you think of the Tranx once you've ordered it.... it's on my gear list for the year.

Rhett: The Tranx is definately a winner! I have the PG model to handle some exotic species I am going after. Holds lots of line, 270 yds of 80# PowerPro. I really like power handle which is super light. Hopefully to get out and make some casts with it soon. As you are aware the Tranx comes in the HG (high gear) 6:6:1 or the PG (power gear) 4:6:1. Both weigh 20.0 oz come with 7 S A-RB bearings and have a max drag of 25lbs. As far as I know, no comparable reel on the market. HIghly recommend you considering trying one out! 8)

That is if you have an extra $500 lying around.

I pre ordered my Tranx with Melton Tackle in hopes that it would get to me before I left to fish down in the FL Keys.
Low and behold it arrived 2 days after I had returned home to Tx. I ordered the HG, even though the PG model is really not that slow.
I felt the HG better suited my style of fishing. Looking back, this reel would have been awesome for free lining live mullet. My Avet reel
really powered up the Grouper, but casting out to them was challenging. Hopefully the weather this next trip will allow me to get off shore
and not restrict me to the cover of the back country. I found the new colors for the Daddy Wax Wings in the Senior size. Wish they made those
colors for the Jr as well. Anyway, Looking to tangle with some Cobia, Mahi, and Wahoos this next trip.

We had a few arrive earlier than expected. They shipped to the early order dealers on 3/1. They pretty much sold out all over the country. We should have more in April if the computer is being honest.

Bantam-
I'm a certified Shimano-holic and am getting closer and closer to adding a Tranx to the lineup (couple Curados, 400 TE, dozens of Spirexes, and a Trin 16N). I'm guessing the one that would round out that lineup would be the lower gear ratio? Other than the thumb-bar and levelwind will I notice any other huge differences between the Tanx and the Trinidad?
Thank you- erik

The Tranx spool is a little lighter so it does cast a little easier. The shape is different so you will feel that right away. Then you will be impressed with how much power this reel has.

sorry to bump an old thread, but anyone with a curado 300, what # line is you maximum you feel comfortable putting on there? just in the market for a new reel for a lighter setup and i feel like the 300 might be the ticket.

I've found 65 LB is best with the Curado. 50 casts great but I get nervous about durability when chasing Toothies and throwing big baits.

Have used 100lbs PowerPro on the Curado 300E at La Zona with no problem whatsoever making long casts.
