When to use fluorescent lures?

Postby Questor » Mon Aug 06, 2007 1:43 pm

Larry:

In what conditions are fluorescent lures most effective in fresh water? I'm particularly interested in fluorescent chartreuse versus white as light colors for trolling. Generally I've found white to be a good color for trolling in my home waters, but haven't got much experience with the fluorescents yet.

Thanks.

Hi Q,
Good question.
There are many circumstances where the fl. lures shine.
Obviously dirty water and low light.
Also, I've found after working a school with "whatever" and the fish slow down after whacking several on consectutive casts, if I switch to flour chart lure of exactly the same design I often catch another two or three fish.
When we made the first flour. chart lures back in the '70's they were magic on muskies and pike. Still great, but not as magic as before anyone else had 'em!
best,
L
