Leader Knot

Postby sakamotok » Wed Jan 11, 2012 5:27 pm

Hi Larry,
Great to see you on another season of HFBF. On the Tennessee muskie episode, it looked like you were using heavy Fluoro or Mono leaders? What pound test were you using and what knots do you recommend to attach the leader to the lure and to the main line?
Regards,
Ken

I think I was using 200# hard mono. Mainly because I'd been fishing saltwater and the knots were still ok!
I tie a bimini in the main line, double Nail Knot or loop to swivel and 60# to 90# wire. sometimes twist melt, sometimes crimp.
with mono or Fluoro use pt knot.

Sorry Larry, a ""pt" knot? I'm not familiar with that one...

Mr D, If he is talking about the loop knot you can untie, I though you did a good job of explaining it in an old post of mine.

Ken search some of my old threads and you should be able to find a good description, if it is the knot i am thinking of..

Dear J,
Thanks for the lead. Yes, I was interested in the terminal loop too, couldn't quite make it out on the TV.
Neat stuff,

Larry can correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure he just uses a boline (Sp?) knot but starting with an overhand knot instead of a loop.
