Postby zaragossa » Tue Jan 10, 2012 3:46 pm

I am going to Bolivia in July and could use some advice as to what lures to take and how many. Thanks, Martin

I CAN ONLY GUESS YOU ARE GOING TO CANO NEGRO LODGE. IF SO LISTEN TO YOUR OUT-FITTER AS TO LURES.
A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO A GROUP OF US WENT TO A LODGE, NO LONGER OPEN, AND HAD THE FINEST OF PEACOCK FISHING. THE STRAIN IS SOMEWHAT SMALLER THAN BRAZIL BUT NEVER THE LESS GREAT FISHING. WE TOOK A "TON" OF LURES AND ENDED UP USING JOHNSON SILVER MINNOWS FOR MOST OF THE PEACOCK FISHING WITH GREAT SUCCESS. THERE ARE PAYARA THERE AND LARGER LURES LIKE LARGER YO-ZURIS ARE IN ORDER WITH WIRE LEADERS.
THE MOST PEACOCKS I HAVE EVER CAUGHT AND EVEN NOT AS LARGE As BRAZIL OR VENZ. GREAT FUN.

Don't forget some topwater chopper type and walk the dog type lures in medium to large "bass" sizes. Small whopper plopper and wide glides are good choices too. Spinner baits are sometimes good in the flooded brush.
good luck!
