Larry, with the new found popularity of swimbaits for Bass, and the cost that goes with it (some lures are $50-$100 each). Do you think the super shad rap will work with big LM bass?

It seems to fit the profile of a large shad and I don't see the love it deserves from Swimbaitnation out west... unless it's a well kept secret.

Hi Bill,
Swimbaits and variations of them are deadly on all kinds of "hard to make bite" big fish.
Although it's effective in some situations, usually trolling, I've never had great success with the Mag Shad Rap. It holds its depth well but, for my preference is a little too "mechanically perfect" in it's action.
I tried for years to get them to make one with a lip like a bagley DB06.

I've been making my own swim baits for years out of plastisol, you might give it a go, it's not hard.
First you make a model out of clay, then a mold out of RTV, then you can pour as many lures out of plastisol as you want.
I use a $30 walmart microwave and pyrex containers to liquify it.
best,
L
