Postby mmmyer » Fri Nov 28, 2008 8:13 pm

Larry,
First thing its getting cold up here in Putnam County,NY. The NYC has a water system that is very clear and it has many different Lakes in the system but basically all the the same I'm fishing from Shore. What Can I do to up my production if anything for fish?
Please tell me ins and outs about Braided line,I like the strength of it but on my spinning wheel it tangles a lot,Any Ideas?

Respectively,

Hi M
I hear you regarding the cold! Our lakes are frozen where I live in MN.
Is it legal to use a float tube, inflatable, kayak, canoe or other such non-motorized craft?
Might try balloons, kites types of drift rigs to get your bait where you can't reach from shore.
Check maps if the system is impounded and find where old stream bed bumps against shore. Fish there in Fall, Winter and adjacent in pre-spawn late summer.
Go out in winter and using a depthfinder to shoot through the ice to map the structural features and best cover etc. and figure out how to cover those areas from shore after the ice melts.
best,
L
