larry, What do you think of the rocket fishing rod?

eddie, are you talking about the kids pole that shoots the bobber and lure out onto the water? The one advertised on late night tv?

...It is certainly not a serious piece of fishing gear. However anything that gets kids angling is a good thing My son wanted one...but I talked him into a good introductory Zebco rod/reel combo.

hey seedy the only reason why i started this topic is because the new rocket fishing rods are a rip off!!!!!!

Hi E,
Forget the silly gimmicks when it comes to fishing. Start your son on an inexpensive closed face reel and switch him to open faced spinning as soon as he can operate it. Same goes with baitcasting gear. Time invested in developing mechanical skills at a young age is well spent!
But, by the same token, rockets, kites, gliders etc. are great fun, and, who knows, in some cases might lend themselves to fishing.
