Pacu's are omnivours. The main way of catching them is with fruit
or nuts. I have been to a pond that has them and caught them on
cerry tomatos and a #7 rapala that was just sit still, I was trying to
get a wind knot out.
Your going to have to find out from locals as to which canals have
populations and then site fish for them or get lucky.
New record of 44lbs is from Ft. Lauderdale, so their definately there!
Larry about the amoured cats (Plecos), I have seen a stretch in the C14
canal where there was no less than 50 of them in 20-30 yard area.
It's amazing how well there are doing.
