How hard is it casting the TLD 15? Do you have to use heavy weight?

Hi A,
The tld has no provisions for anti-backlash, plus has a relatively large diameter spool so if you don't have an educated thumb it can be tricky. With a longer, slow or parabolic action rod and heavy enough lure it casts pretty well for the initiated, but is much more backlash prone than reels designed specifically for casting.
Also, since it has no levelwind, you have to guide the line back and forth on the reel when you retrieve.
