Larry, I'm organizing a trip with some of my buddies for a trip to Canada (Zups Lodge) in May. This will be our second trip up there. In order to save some room in my tacklebox for the trip, what kind of "essential" lures would you suggest? I had luck with the Heddon "baby" torpedo for the first two days on smallmouth, but then someone flipped the switch and they quit on that bait. After that I fished exclusively with jigs. What else you would suggest? Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi T,
you want a prop bait, chugger and zig zag surface lures.
bring tube jigs, some marabou, and I like Peterson's lipsticks with the broomtail in a crayfish color.
Suspending minnow lures
floating minnow lures
a few small crankbaits. 4' and 10-12 running depths.
Variety of soft plastics (too many options to mention)
experiment with speed or total lack of it, size, color extremes(
black, chart, orange, white, flash)
Bring leeches to verify existence of fish during toughest conditions.
