Sufix Braid

Postby fishing chick » Mon Mar 19, 2007 12:17 pm

Larry,

I was thinking about using the 6# or 10# for casting light jigs to crappie and bass. I have heard that the lighter braids in some other brands (Power Pro and Fireline) are almost too thin, and you end up having problems with tangles, knots slipping, etc.

Do you have any experience with Sufix braid in these lighter weights?

Thanks.

Don't try the lightest PowerPro for that application. It is no good. I could cut the wet line by pinching it with my dull fingernails. Knot strength was very poor. I removed it after a couple of outings. However, not to derail your thread, but to give PowerPro a lot of credit, the 30# is excellent.

This year I'm trying Sufix 30# just to see how it compares. I understand it's even better.

Hi FC,
Personally, I still prefer mono for the applications you describe, but because it has a bit more "body", which makes it less likely to cause problems, I like Sufix better in all sizes than the others you mention.
best,
