Microballoons

Postby Shire413 » Tue Mar 21, 2017 9:16 pm

Hey Larry,

I have a question. If I'm using 6oz of resin, will the bait weigh roughly 6oz? Also, if using a 1:1 ratio of balloons, how much weight would be reduced? Thanks again!

Yup, 6 oz will remain 6 oz.. Using a max load of microballoons should reduce the weight by 30-40%. On the Makelure site there's a "chart" that shows conversion of resin/balloons to various types of wood and also give appx specific gravity. you have to fish around a little to find it, but it's quite useful. Our friend Anglinarcher put it together several years ago.

I actually weigh the microballoons. Last batch was 10% by weight. Made a thick slurry, but light weight and buoyant piece.
