Lure making starter kit

Postby garrett » Thu Jun 25, 2015 12:29 pm

Hi Larry,

Being a beginner I was wonder how many Mr. Whiggleys could I make with just the Soft bait kit from www.makelure.com/store/p/655-Soft-Bait-Kit.aspx.

Also while I have you I have a live bait rigging question. I just started targeting large stripers using live bait in my local river and was wondering the best way to do this. I am using relatively large american shad 12 to 14" and as of now running braid to a swivel then 25lb fluorocarbon to a circle hook that is bridled to the bait. River conditions are clear and usually fishing anywhere from 15 feet down to 3 feet of water. Any suggestions on hook size and leader length or even a better way to rig this would be much appreciated

Thank you

Garrett (Fly guy that just got into convention fishing)

the number depends on the size, but I would estimate about a dozen. You are rigging it the same way I would!
good luck,
