Cleaning Tarnished Spoons

Postby Cold-in-ND » Thu Jan 15, 2015 10:48 am

I struggle to keep my ice fishing jigging spoons from tarnishing and becoming dull. What can a person use to clean them up and make them shiny again. My concern is residual chemical or smells on the lures afterward making picky fish not bite. Another thing that could help is trying to keep them dry but when you are out on the ice it's hard to keep it that way...because it's cold you get damp and wet gear no matter what. Rust inhibitors in a persons tackle box, do they exist and if so do they work?

Try cigarette ashes and a little spit on a cloth or paper towel. Rub with the ash spit paste and it should shine like new.
