At around the 12 second mark of this video, which knot is being tied?

He just doubled the mainline segment prior to the wraps, which makes the knot less likely to slip.

Only Larry can answer for sure, but it looks like the San Diego Jam to me.

It's a three turn nail knot loop tied with the line doubled over. Same as a uni with 3 turns. I've been using it for over 50 years. It is the strongest knot I've tested on my line tester.

Larry - thanks for the info. I'll have to check that out and give it a try. You tied it quick and almost effortlessly which is always a plus, but 50 years of experience helps :P

Steve - I've never heard of the San Diego Jam knot but Googled it last night and it looks pretty cool, easy, and similar to what Larry was doing. I've been using the improved clinch knot for most of my terminal connections forever but always looking to try something new.

Thanks,
Cory

The San D. has it's followers. I have used the double line uni but with 6 wraps. It is bulky but strong. For some reason I never considered only 3 wraps..... makes sense with the doubled line.

Thanks Larry.
