Larry and members,

After one saltwater fishing trip, the finish of Heru Lures (often labeled Nomad, Blackjack) poppers and stickbaits wears off. They're good wooden lures, fairly inexpensive, made in Bali, Indonesia. They work very well, but the paint and finish isn't durable compared to the more expensive Japanese offerings. Is there a paint or lacquer you recommend to reapply to salvage these lures after a trip?

Most guys will basically clean them up as needed with abrasive, repaint with acrylic then coat with a good clear epoxy finish like flex coat.
Just make sure the lure is good and dry and hasn't soaked up any water before you begin your finishing process.

Thanks Larry! I was also thinking about a UV cured polyurethane, like Solarez gloss.

I've not tried the Solarez, but I recall a post by anglinarcher that indicated some serious problems with it.

That doesn't sound good. I'll stick to the flex coat. Would your UV cured topcoat work ok?
