Rod building, retractable butt and stripper guide

Postby Chris M » Wed Feb 28, 2007 2:06 pm

I have been building rods with flippin blanks. My problem is that the blanks I have been using have long butt sections that make the placement of the stripper guide too far up the rod section. Do you of blanks with shorter retractable butts?

That's what happens when someone knocks on the door in the middle of a post.
Do you know of blanks with short butt sections?

Hi C,

Just locate the stripper guide where you normally would on a "non-flippin" blank, it's just the rod won't collapse down as far when you're not using it.

That's what I did on two of the rods I've built but everyone on the rod building site I use says not to let the guide hit the butt section. I don't see what the big deal is so I'm going to keep building them like you suggested, I can't stand to see the guide that far up the blank, it looks funky.
Thanks
