Shimano Tekota and Torium

Postby catfishpat » Fri Feb 09, 2007 1:30 pm

Hey Larry,

Have you personally used one of these reels?

I have read great reviews on the Tekota but am still a bit leery of purchasing one due to the non metal levelwind mechanism. I have read some good, some not so good reviews on the Torium. I think both would make a great Flathead/Sturgeon reel due their heavy drag pressure and large line capacity. I use 80lb mono with the drag screwed tight.

I was looking into the Trinidad but am going to save my pennies and get a Torsa when the time comes to go after the South American Cats.

Your thoughts?

Thanks much,

-Patrick

Hi P,
I think torium would do just fine. Use a harness and you can land any cat in the mississippi in less than a minute!
Hang on tight!
good luck!
L
ps. The torsa is worth saving for!!
