hair for chatters and blades

I have been tieing my own rubber/silicone jigs for a little while and have just begun dipping into the fly world for different materials.

I tied up some fish hair,EP,slinky hair,crystal flash,and red thread to mimic a rainbow trout,but it lacks body and action. I was wondering if you could recommend a few different hairs or synthetics that are strong and will bulk up the profile(7"+) of my blades,chatters,jigs.

ps I tried to buy a wheel at the swap meet today but the guy wanted $20 bucks for a set! not sure I need that many blades.

try mixing in some big fly fiber. it's curled at the base so you can get the bulk without a million fibers.
you can tease it with a comb, or take a little curl out by stretching it.
