Stradic 5000 FJ

Postby muskynut » Thu Aug 01, 2013 12:11 pm

Is a shimano stradic 5000 FJ adequate for fishing with the shimano waxwing? Could you suggest any 2 piece rod to match it with? I travel alot for work and fish after hours and its not convenient to throw an 8 or 9 foot rod in the car.

Thanks Scott

I heard good things about one that st croix introduced the recent Icast show. Not sure about spinning thought. a good one has been a very hard thing to find in any configuration due to a very much undeserved stigma about two piece rods.
I'd think 5000 would do ok for a reel. a size up would be ok too.

Shimano spinning combo?

Postby muskynut » Thu Aug 08, 2013 10:58 am

How well will the Shimano 5000FJ reel match up with the Shimano Compre spinning muskie rod? Do you have any better suggest a better rod to pair up with the Stradic 5000FJ? I ma looking to use lures up to 1.5 oz with this setup.

not sure about that one. I'd look around and see what's available that you can physically pick up and hold in your hand. Lots of rods will work. I'd look for something around 8 to 8'6" that's light, but stiff enough for the lures..
