reeling hand for flyfishing

dear larry: i just saw your show on bonefish, awesome! 2 at a time, your crazy!!!!!!!! must have been fun. anyway, i thought i noticed you reel with your right hand when you flyfish.my ? is why switch reeling hands when you fight with your strongest arm? was this something you had to learn,or did you do it automatic? i tried it but it just feels "backwards" and im afraid of dropping my rod because its not in the dominant hand.should i keep trying or stick to what feels right?.....Carpo

HI C,
Actually I use either or both hands for cranking a fly reel. To me it makes absolutlely no difference.
On a really big fish I would be nice to have a crank on both sides so you could switch when one hand gets tired!
I think this is one of those totally personal preference things and it makes no difference which hand you crank with, just as long as you're having fun!
Best,
L
