Reel advice - Tranx HG vs 400D

Postby Pturk » Wed Jul 17, 2013 1:02 pm

I looked around with the search function but couldn't find the specifics. What would be your reel preference between a Tranx HG and a 400D when throwing mag dawgs or larger plastics?

Appreciate the input.

Cheers,

Tranx. All the way. The tranx is basically a trinidad 20 that was converted into a low profile. People even use the high gear reel to throw pounders and have absolutely no problem. Itll be a lot easoer on your hand after throwing big plastic all day too... hope this helps.

Either reel will handle those lures easily. Preference depends a great deal on how you personally hold the rod and reel when retrieving and possibly how large your hands are. Personally, I would go with the 400D!

Ok, hopefully the last question since these topics get discussed often. If you already have the 400D and Tranx PG, is it worth adding the HG or does a second 400D offer more flexibility?

Any other thoughts?

Thanks again!

If I fished mostly salt I'd add the tranx, freshwater I'd go with the extra 400d.
