WIDE-GLIDE jr. outfishes....MirrOlure

Wow, all I have to say is "I NEED MORE 120SS model WIDE-GLIDES!!"

Took out 3 young guys today. They all basically bass fished. I hadn't the heart to let them all use personal "stash" of Wide Glides. A whopping two of them.

So I dug out a ole box with MirrOlure's in it and since the big fat Speckled Trout were only hitting Mullet imitating lurees at sun-up, I tied them all on MirrOlure Catch2000's. A 3-1/2" sub surface suspending bait, that yes looks like a Mullet.

The retrieve with them is simple. Twitch, twitch and pause....then twitch twitch pause again". You'll usually get slammed on the "pause".

I OF COURSE, WAS USING A VETERAN WIDE-GLIDE 120 SS, AND WAS GETTING SMASHED FROM THE FIRST CAST!
By veteran I mean, this lure needs it's hooks changed is all beat up and has now caught over 50 Speckled Trout to 5 pounds and better.

I don't know what the deal was, but being the concement Pro-Guide, I only made a cast when there was a Lull in the action.
The guys caught a few, lost a few, and were getting follows (actual Speckled Trout waking behind the lures) And these were STUDS!

I'd make a cast and instantly would get hooked up, with Trout to 5 pounds!!!

Granted, they too had action. The boat was surrounded by Trout. But, the twitch twitch pause they were doing may not have been right. I coached them as much as you can coach "ADULTS", sometimes they listen, sometimes it goes in one ear and out the other.

BUT, if I had 10 wide-glide 120SS lures. They would have been using them, and had way more fish. I contributed heavily to our total, of course.

Because they wanted a fish fry. They did get a few up to 24 inches.

Larry, is there a way to get bulk discounts from River2Sea??

I'm going to email them...

Thanks for such a great design!!!!

Oh yes.......

I went and emailed River2Sea and bla, bla, yada, yada, yada, I have 5 more Wide-Glides heading my way. The fella I talked to at River2Sea was very nice and we talked awhile.

Larry, I really don't think I've ever been as excited about a lure in my life :!: :!: :!:

My skills with the Wide Glide Jr. may rival yours! I have noticed that in various "current" situations, of which we here have no lack of in the river I fish. (St. Johns, Jacksonville, Florida) which is dredged to China because of monster ships.

I can keep the subsurface under water, or I can have it pop it's head up out of the water, and not slap, but just "WAG".
And that just pisses them big Gator Trout.....OFF.

As I reported before, the Whopper-Plopper does good too. But, worked s-l-o-w. But it's not as productive for me as the wide-glide.

Here's yesterday blog report after a day in the midst of a every cast slam dunked, hook-up, or fish lost because they freak-out, that the mullet they just ate fights BACK! I felt the need to help "plug" this "plug".

Moral of my little report, On Tueday the 28th UPS will be delivering 5 more WG 120SS models to my door. That makes 7 total I'll have in my arsenal and then they won't just be all for me, but clients too.

Larry,

AGAIN THANKS :!:
Now, can you wave your wand and make these Trout and or Redfish eat the BIG wide-glide for me?
My BIG plug casting "TranX reel", is feeling lonesome. It needs some "love" too.

I have more WIDE-GLIDE stuff, on my Facebook if you'd like to "LIKE" it, I'd apppreciate all visitors:

so glad you are having such a great time with the WG. the big one takes a heavy action rod, a hard short bump followed by slack.
really slow, really wide cadence followed by fast zig zag is usually best. I like it to make a boil when I snap it and shoots off in the other direction.
Can be fished much more aggressive lure that the small one. Large subsurface model works great. Large surface has some issues right now that are being worked on.
best,

Oh yeah Larry...I can make it do it's "glide"...No problem! The monster Wide Glide that is. I have a Shimano Compre Muskie Rod, and even two swim bait Okuma rods.

It's the "inshore" fish species, that I can't get to eat it. It's not like I'm fishing for Huge mouthed Stripers! I loved that episode, of HFBF.

Was wondering though. I do loose many a Speckled trout, (on my small WG) it's the nature of the beast with a soft mouthed fish. And I work'em in so much differently than say Redfish ole rubber lips.....And I still loose plenty.

What do you think of these Spin Tech Hooks. The spinning "replacement" trebles :?:

Here's a Youtube link:
http://youtu.be/KjB0x8Y6JrU

It seems like they should work and aren't just snake oil. Fish do jump, spin and rotate lures right out of their mouths. I did find them ( "On Clearance" , which makes me think Hmmmm??) on a bass fishermans web site, cheaper than they usually sell for.
